How are Entries Organised

The landing page of the dictionary contains the Acknowledgements section, a search bar, and buttons to access the info section and the settings menu. In order to access entries, users must use the search bar. When users search for a word, entries are listed below the search bar which users can then choose from. Users can search the dictionary in either English or Stoney. The search function detects all entry options based on what is put into the search bar, displaying relevant English and Stoney options in the same list. Users can tap a result to see the full entry.

Entries include the headword (in either English or Stoney), the part of speech, and the translation(s) or definition(s). Many entries also have an audio recording of the Stoney. Entries may also have related words listed which are hyperlinked, and, when tapped, take users to that word’s entry.

Users can save words to lists or reaccess entries they have already visited through the search history function. When looking at a specific entry, users can move to other entries using right and left arrows at the bottom of the screen. When looking through the dictionary this way, entries are alphabetized by either English or Stoney, depending on which side of the dictionary users are in at the time. Users can also see an alphabetized list by selecting the “hamburger” icon between the arrows. There is also a Comment button in each entry, allowing users to send in feedback to the developers if there is an issue, error, or a desire to see a word listed that is not yet in the dictionary.
